Volunteering in PTA is one of the best ways that parents can support the students and staff at our school.

 

Please review the brief descriptions of each volunteer area and indicate your interest/s below. More info about volunteer rules, roles and expectations can be found in the Naumann PTA Bylaws and Standing Rules.

Standing Chair (Board) Positions

Parliamentarian
Be familiar with the Bylaws, Standing Rules, Rules of Order, and PTA policies; advise the board on parliamentary rules as needed. Attend PTA board meetings and membership meetings (Sept, Nov, Feb, Apr, May).


Communications Chair
Leads a committee of individuals that produce mailings to PTA contacts, submit PTA news for weekly Naumann Insider, and updates the PTA website. Is a member of the PTA board, coordinates with President, chairs and campus admin to post info about PTA and school programs on Facebook, Instagram and X. Attend PTA board meetings and membership meetings (Sept, Nov, Feb, Apr, May).


Hospitality Chair
Leads a committee of individuals who provide hospitality to teachers and staff. Hosts special treat days, coordinates collection of snacks and beverages for the teacher's lounge. Plans daily themes and teacher appreciation week treats. Attend PTA board meetings and membership meetings (Sept, Nov, Feb, Apr, May).


Membership Chair
Recruit and register new members, maintain membership roster. There are many opportunities to boost membership and engagement: https://www.txpta.org/membership Attend PTA board meetings and membership meetings (Sept, Nov, Feb, Apr, May).


Room Representatives Chair
Recruit Room Reps for each class and provide them guidance and support for class parties and teacher support. Attend PTA board meetings and membership meetings (Sept, Nov, Feb, Apr, May).


Volunteer Coordinator
Collaborates with the PTA President, PTA Board and teachers/staff to identify how volunteers can be involved. Creates sign up forms and runs reports. Attend PTA board meetings and membership meetings (Sept, Nov, Feb, Apr, May).


Special Appointed Committee Chair Positions

Book Fair
*NEW in 2025-26 - will hold a FALL (December) and a SPRING (March) book fair! Coordinate, plan, and manage the Scholastic Book Fairs on campus. This includes working closely with the school librarian, managing inventory, sales, backorders, accounting, setup and closing of the fair. Provide days/time slots where help is needed for a volunteer sign up.


Clothes Closet
Staff and recruit volunteers for Naumann’s pre-assigned dates to work at the Clothes Closet, clear campus Lost and Found, collect and prep items donated on campus, and serve as liaison between Naumann and LISD Council of PTAs Clothes Closet leaders. Educational Access
Focuses on initiatives that increase equitable access on our campus and help build respect and acceptance of every family and student. Supports Kids First and Mix It Up Lunch chairs.


Educational Assemblies
Works with the board to bring 2-3 educational assemblies to our Naumann students during the school year.


Garden Care
Plans and implements the planting of the school garden and helps to create a volunteer garden watering schedule for Naumann families to sign up for. The garden desperately needs to be revived!


Healthy Lifestyles
Organize National Walk, Bike to School days in the Fall and/or the Spring. This position has a many possibilities that Texas PTA has documented to help with ideas: https://www.txpta.org/healthy-lifestyles


Holiday Breakfast
Leads a committee of individuals October - December who plan and manage the annual holiday breakfast held in early December. This includes organizing entertainment, decor, food & beverage, etc. Provide days/time slots where help is needed for a volunteer sign up.


Kids First
Helps build a culture of understanding and acceptance on campus specifically around special needs individuals. Request materials from Texas PTA and work with Naumann administration to schedule a time to hold the program.


Little Free Library
Checks the Little Free Library once a week for books that should be returned to the Naumann library and makes sure donated books are elementary student appropriate.


Major Fundraiser
The lead for the annual fundraiser (APEX, September 1-12, 2025). Leads a committee of individuals who place signage, decorate inside and outside and help promote the fundraiser at afternoon pickup, etc. Commitment is Aug-Sept only.


Math Pentathlon
Serves as the School Contact Designee and coaches the Math P team at Naumann. Coordinate with Naumann administration to schedule practices at school and coordinate collection of fees.


Mix It Up Lunch
Promote a healthy, welcoming school environment and reduce prejudice by encouraging interactions across group lines. Coordinate with Naumann administration to schedule a day to host the program during lunch (one-time committment).


Reflections Arts Program
Promote and manage submissions for National PTA Reflections art program, recruit judges, prepare winning entries for next levels of competition, plan an awards event. Ideas: plan a Naumann families art day.


Restaurant Knights
Schedule and arrange fundraising evenings with restaurants close to the neighborhood and a spirit (k)night activity. *Ideas: ice skating at the Crossover, hockey game at HEB Center


School Supply Packs
Organizes the distribution process of school supply packs in August. Coordinates with the school administration to provide a supply list to the vendor so sales can open in April/May for the following school year.


Socials
Leads a committee that plans 1-2 community social events* per semester to foster community between Naumann families. *Ideas: popsicles in the park, glow in the dark dance, movie (k)night


Spirit Items
Order spirit items in early July, manage in-person sales at back to school events (Aug-Sept), manage online store sales, inventory and fulfillment.


Sponsorships
Connects with and recruits local businesses to become Naumann PTA sponsors. This person also ensures that sponsors are given visibility in publications and promoted at required events.


Talent Show
Plan and manage the annual Talent Show (typically late March or April). This includes scheduling the venue (MPR) and date for auditions, rehearsal and the show; arranges facilities; informs parents and students of the process; recruits and manages volunteers.


Webmaster
Serves as the main PTA website administrator. Makes updates to the website as including the calendar, home page and other pertinent pages regularly. Completes a year end checklist to get the site and forms ready for the next school year. Set up the spirit store for online and in-person sales.
